Instructor Bios
A bio of each of the instructors at the festival is provided below. In order to provide many different points of view and keep things fresh for returning participants, we have five new instructors this year, who will also be giving presentations on Saturday. We also have three returning instructors for the workshops: Dan Ballard, Glenn Randall, and the festival organizer, Grant Collier. Dan and Glenn were invited back becuase of the great reviews they got from participants in their workshop last year.

Marc Muench has been a professional landscape and sports photographer for over 20 years. His photography has appeared on covers or inside Time, National Geographic, Traveler, Arizona Highways, Ski, Skiing, Sunset, Outside, Sierra Magazine, etc. His work also appears in books, calendars, note cards, postcards, posters and annual reports. Marc represented Canon Camera in several ad campaigns, as well as appearing on “Canon Photo Safari” which aired on ESPN outdoor block, for eight straight seasons. In 2003, Marc was designated by Kodak as a Kodak Photo Icon.

Glenn Randall has been a full-time photographer and writer specializing in the outdoors for 31 years. He has had over 1,000 photographs published, including 67 covers, and sold over 10,000 prints of his landscape images. He's also authored nine books and 200 magazine articles. Farcountry Press published two books of his landscape photographs, Colorado Wild & Beautiful and Rocky Mountain National Park Impressions. Glenn is a regular contributor to Outdoor Photographer Magazine and is also a sought-after workshop instructor.
Grant Collier www.gcollier.com
Grant Collier is a lifelong resident of Colorado and has been working as a professional photographer since 1996. He produces a yearly Colorado wall calendar and is the author of eight photography books, including Colorado's National Parks & Monuments, Colorado: Yesterday & Today, and Arches National Park by Day & Night. His photography has been featured in magazines throughout the United States and Europe and in numerous other media outlets, including CNN.com, NBC, CBS, PBS, and the cover of the Rocky Mountain News.
Grant has led photography workshops throughout Colorado and Utah and currently specializes in teaching night photography.

Mark S. Johnson is an Adobe Photoshop luminary, a photographer, an
author, and one of the most passionate instructors you will ever
encounter. It is this passion that inspired him to write, photograph,
and design the internationally-recognized book, "Botanical Dreaming."
Mark's latest eBook, "Illuminating HDR," is one of the most
comprehensive HDR resources on the planet. Through the Rocky Mountain
School of Photography, The Radiant Vista, and Boulder Digital Arts, Mark
has lectured in front of countless individuals, including Adobe’s CEOs.
His tutorials appear regularly on the National Association of Photoshop
Professionals (NAPP) web site, and his imagery and articles have been
featured in "Photo Techniques," "Nature’s Best," and "After Capture"
magazines.

Russ Burden has been infatuated with photography since his teens. He is the owner of Russ Burden Nature Photography Tours and runs workshops around the country. His stock work is marketed through Getty Images and shows up in advertisements around the world. Russ writes the Tip Of The Week for the Outdoor Photographer website. He also provides weekly tips and a Photoshop Tip of the Month for TakeGreatPictures.Com. He has two books to his credit. Russ is a multiple time winner of the prestigious Nature’s Best, Windland Smith Rice Award in the Art In Nature and Backyard Habitat categories. As a result, his images have appeared in the Smithsonian. Russ teaches classes for the Digital Photo Academy in addition to authoring all the curriculums for their classes taught around the country.

Dan Ballard is an internationally known travel and landscape photographer from
Colorado. His award-winning images take you on a visual journey to some of the
world's most beautiful and far-reaching corners. His travel experiences have led
him to over 40 countries on five continents around the globe. Dan's images have been on display around the U.S. in museums and galleries, and he has sold images to clients around the globe, including the National Geographic Society.
His images have been published in magazines and calenders, and he has won or been a finalist in numerous prestigious competitions. Dan’s image ”Let ‘er Fly” was recently featured in a Smithsonian Channel episode on what makes an award-winning image.

Stephen G. Weaver is an award winning fine-art landscape and nature photographer with over 35 years making images of the natural world. Formally educated as a geologist, Steve combines his scientific knowledge with his photographic eye to produce stunning images that illustrate the beauty of the structure and composition of the earth and its natural systems. He travels widely, photographing throughout North America, and is particularly well known for his intimate and evocative images of grasses and the prairie environment. His work has been licensed as stock images for the editorial and advertising markets, and many of his fine-art prints have been purchased for corporate and private collections.

Colby Brown is a professional photographer, photo educator and author based out of Denver, Colorado. Specializing in landscape, travel and humanitarian fine art photography, Colby has been fortunate to have worked all over the globe, documenting various environments and cultures in the pursuit to document life on this planet.
Colby has worked as a photography instructor for National Geographic Student Expeditions, and some of his other clients are the Sierra Club, the Red Cross, and the Denver Post. You can find Colby's photography work in art galleries throughout Colorado and Texas as well as in many private collections.
