Rocky Mountain National Park contains some of the most breathtaking scenery in the state, including pristine mountain lakes, roaring waterfalls, and towering mountain peaks.

The Lodge House has 4 bedrooms with baths. I will be staying in the Lodge House which is also where the group will meet for all digital presentations.
Couples who share a bedroom will receive $150 discount.
Photography locations:
Trail Ridge Road is a spectacular drive through the heart of the alpine zone of the Rocky Mountains. We will be spending our time dodging potential weather and bad light in the hopes of finding great light. I will be teaching the art of composing in the landscape, with an emphasis on filling the entire frame of your composition.
You will learn techniques for long exposure imaging assuming we have the opportunity to photograph in the dark.
Because we are in such a great location we will attempt to maximize our time in the field, spending both evenings out shooting until the stars come out and rising early for the pink light. There will be time in the afternoon and evenings for viewing images taken during our location shoots.
While in our private lodge we will have time to review images, discuss technique and learn the best ways to post process with Lightroom. You will specifically learn how to manage scenes with a large dynamic range by using only one exposure and Lightroom, no HDR and no Photoshop! Of course I will also show you how to process HDR scenes as well.
We will not be hiking far on this workshop, so you can bring a sturdy tripod and some extra lenses.
Items you might want in addition to camera body and tripod:
- Telephoto lens 300 or 400mm
- Fast lens 2.8 or 1.4 max aperture. I will have my Canon 24mm F1.4 lens
- 4 and 8 stop ND filters
- Polarizing filter
- Intervalmeter or cable release for longer time exposures than 30 sec
- Wide angle lense which focuses close, Canon 8 – 15mm fish or Tokina 10-17fish.
